Anaheim: Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested After Hours Long SWAT Standoff

12.11.2020 | 1:01 AM | ANAHEIM – An attempted murder suspect was arrested after a barricading himself for about four hours following reports of a shooting in the area, early Friday morning.

Officers responded to the reported shooting in the 1800 block of West Gramercy Avenue, near Chippewa Avenue, around 1:01 AM.

When they arrived on scene officers found a shooting victim who they learned was shot by a named suspect that had barricaded himself inside an apartment.

The shooting victim was transported to an area hospital and expected to survive but in the hours after the shooting an hours long standoff unfolded.

SWAT teams urged the suspect to surrender but after four hours a chemical agent was deployed into the apartment causing the subject to jump from a second-story window.

A police K9 then assisted in apprehending the suspect.

Police say the man is expected to be charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident.

No civilian or first responder injuries were reported.
