Anaheim: Crash Into Construction Equipment Kills Two

10.30.2021 | 2:44 AM | ANAHEIM – A crash into construction equipment on the shoulder of a freeway left two people dead, early Saturday morning.

The crash involving a white Honda Civic was reported on the northbound SR-57 Freeway just south of the Lincoln Avenue off ramp around 2:44 AM.

Crews arriving on scene located the Honda with significant damage after colliding with an arrow board and veering onto the shoulder of the freeway.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 24-year-old Emmanuel Adeleke, of Santa Ana, was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by firefighters before being rushed to UCI Medical Center. Despite medical treatment Adeleke later succumbed to his injuries and pronounced deceased.

A second individual, identified as 22-year-old Destiny Hernandez, of Anaheim, was located in the front passenger seat of the vehicle and pronounced deceased on scene.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal collision are under investigation but speed appears to be a factor.
