Anaheim: Police Arrest One, Seek Another In Connection With Gang Murder

03.09.2022 | 12:00 PM | ANAHEIM – Police arrested one man but were still seeking another in connection with a gang-related homicide, authorities announced Wednesday.

Damien Rubalcava, 21, of Costa Mesa, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting death of 23-year-old David Gutierrez Hernandez, of Anaheim, on Dec. 21, 2021.

Rubalcava was taken into custody in the 8100 block of 13th Street in Westminster on Mar. 3 after being identified as one of two suspects involved the homicide.

A second man, Franky Mejia Echeverria, 20, of Anaheim, was still being sought in connection with the fatal shooting. Echeverria was considered armed and dangerous, police added.

Both Echeverria and Rubalcava are suspected gang-members.
