Fountain Valley: High-Speed Pursuit Ends With Crash

08.28.2020 | 11:20 PM | FOUNTAIN VALLEY – A high-speed pursuit ended with a minor crash and three people being detained, late Friday night.

An officer attempted to stop a blue Toyota sedan occupied by three people in the Costa Mesa area for unknown reasons around 11:20 PM.

The driver of the vehicle failed fled from the officer at speeds of over 100 MPH and entered the northbound SR-55 Freeway.

Officers pursued northbound on the SR-55, SR-73 and eventually the I-405 freeways before exiting Euclid Street.

The chase continued on city streets before the suspect vehicle jumped a curb and crashed in the 17000 block of San Ricardo just south of Warner Avenue.

Three male occupants from the vehicle were detained at gunpoint without further incident.

It is unclear why the driver fled or what charges the suspects might face.
