05.31.2022 | 10:30 PM | HUNTINGTON BEACH – An elderly man died following a head-on crash that also injured a woman, police reported Tuesday.

The crash was reported on Pacific Coast Highway, north of Goldenwest Street, after a grey 2005 Toyota Camry collided with a 2013 Volkswagen GTI around 12:30 PM.

The driver of the Toyota, a 82-year-old man from Seal Beach, was pronounced deceased at the scene while the driver of the Volkswagen sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The Volkswagen driver was described as a 25-year-old woman from Huntington Beach.

Initial reports indicate that the Toyota was headed southbound on Pacific Coast Highway when his vehicle crossed over a raised median into northbound lanes and collided head-on with the Volkswagen.

It was not immediately clear whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the collision.

Anyone with information regarding the events leading up to the fatal crash were encouraged to contact Investigator D. Demetre at (714) 536-5670.
