Irvine: Fiery Crash Leaves One Person Dead, Two Others Injured

12.09.2021 | 1:34 PM | IRVINE – A fiery crash left at least one person dead and another injured on the I-405 Freeway, Thursday afternoon.

The crash was reported on the southbound I-405 Freeway just south of Irvine Center Drive around 1:34 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a crash involving two sedans including one that was on fire, a CHP incident log indicated.

One person was reportedly trapped inside the burning vehicle and later perished on scene, the log added.

Two other victims from the crash were transported to an area hospital by ambulance.

Heavy traffic in the area was expected to persist as officers investigated the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
