Irvine: SWAT Team Raids Home, Arrests Former Marine On Weapons Charges

05.20.2020 | 5:56 AM | IRVINE – An FBI SWAT team executed a search warrant and arrested a former Marine on weapons charges, Wednesday morning.

A Federal Bureau of Investigation SWAT team descended on the home located in the 5300 block of Royale Avenue around 5:56 AM.

At the same time a separate team stopped a vehicle occupied by a man later identified as 24-year-old Jason Fong near the intersection of Jeffrey Road and Walnut Avenue.

The teams detained Fong at gunpoint without incident and transported him back to the home on Royale Avenue where his parents and family dog were also detained.

Teams of federal agents assisted by local law enforcement could be seen scouring Fong’s family home before eventually arresting Fong on suspicion of possessing illegal firearms.

The arrest was part of an ongoing federal investigation that latter resulted in Fong being indicted on charges of concealing material funds to a terrorist organization.

Fong is reportedly a U.S. Marine Corps sergeant based out of Camp Pendleton.

Neighbors and friends of Fong identified him as quiet, “good-natured” person who attended local schools.
