Irvine: Union Workers Strike On UCI Campus

11.13.2019 | 12:30 PM | IRVINE – A large group of union workers protesting what they call unfair labor practices led a rally around the University of California, Irvine (UCI) campus, Wednesday afternoon.

The group striking walked around the UCI campus in the popular Ring Road around noon as students attempted to get to class and while elementary school children toured the campus.

Union members wearing shirts and picket signs shouted on megaphones in outrage over reportedly illegal outsourcing of jobs.

The protest was peaceful in nature but some students reported delays getting to class as a result of the strike.
