09.11.2021 | 8:37 PM | MISSION VIEJO – An armed robbery at a department store prompted a large police presence at a shopping mall, Saturday night.
Deputies responded to reports of an armed robbery at the Nordstrom’s located within The Shops at Mission Viejo around 8:37 PM.
Units arriving on scene surrounded the area as they received additional calls reporting an armed man walking around the mall.
After an exhaustive search of the area, including checks of many vehicles leaving the mall, authorities determined the suspect likely fled prior to their arrival.
One person sustained a minor injury as the fled the scene and were treated by firefighter paramedics.
No other injuries were reported and a SWAT team is clearing the rest of the mall prior to it reopening the next day.
The suspect was described only as male white wearing an orange wig and all black clothing.
It is unclear what, if anything, was taken in the robbery.
