Newport Beach: 1979 VW Bus Bursts Into Flames At Gas Pump

03.15.2020 | 11:05 PM | NEWPORT BEACH – A 1979 Volkswagen bus bursts into flames while refueling at a gas station, late Sunday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a vehicle fire at the Terrible’s Chevron gas station located in the 1500 block of Jamboree Road around 11:05 PM.

Units arriving on scene located what the owner later identified was a 1979 Volkswagen bus at a gas pump engulfed in flames.

Firefighters quickly activated the station’s emergency shut-off switch and doused the flames.

The fire destroyed the bus and damaged the pump, but no injuries were reported.

The owner of the bus reported that the vehicle burst into flames while it was refueling.
