Orange: Crash Into Power Pole Injures Five, DUI Suspected

09.02.2021 | 9:57 PM | ORANGE – A suspected DUI crash into a power pole left five people injured, Thursday night.

The crash was reported in the 2400 block of East Walnut Avenue, near North Clinton Street, shortly before 10:00 PM.

When authorities arrived on scene they located a grey 2010 Hyundai Sonata that had collided with a power pole.

Five occupants from the vehicle were injured as a result of the crash. Each were treated on scene before being transported to area hospitals.

Initial reports indicate the Hyundai was traveling eastbound on East Walnut Avenue at high-speeds when it lost control and struck a street sign before coming to rest against a power pole.

Although the cause of the crash is still under investigation, authorities suspect DUI and speed played a role.

Both directions of East Walnut Avenue were closed for about two hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
