Orange: Hitchhiking Woman Struck, Killed By Vehicle Along Toll Road

03.06.2022 | 9:06 PM | ORANGE – A woman who was trying to hitchhike along a toll road was struck and killed by a vehicle, Sunday night.

Callers reported the woman walking in lanes of traffic with her thumb up trying to hitchhike on the northbound SR-241 Freeway just south of Santiago Canyon Road around 9:06 PM, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log.

The woman, who some callers speculated might be intoxicated or suicidal, was struck by a passing vehicle on the toll road around 9:30 PM.

When authorities arrived they attempted to render aid before ultimately pronouncing the woman deceased on scene.

All lanes of northbound SR-241 were closed while authorities investigated the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
