08.19.2021 | 1:04 AM | SANTA ANA – A fire ignited inside a boarded-up home but was quickly extinguished, early Thursday morning.

The fire was reported shortly after 1:00 AM inside an apparently vacant home located in the 1000 block of East Washington Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene they located a single-story home with heavy smoke showing from the rear of the structure.

Firefighters forced entry into the boarded-up home and quickly extinguished the fire in under 10 minutes.

No injuries were reported but the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Two other fires have ignited inside abandoned home in Santa Ana in under a week’s time.

The first fire was reported early on August 12 at a reportedly vacant home in the 2200 block of South Standard Avenue.

The second fire ignited just days later on the night of August 14 at another boarded-up home located in the 2000 block of North Bush Street.

It is unclear if the fires are related but fire investigators are probing each incident.
