Santa Ana: Suspicious Fire Burns Shuttered Marie Callender’s Restaurant

06.22.2019 | 12:41 AM | SANTA ANA – A shuttered Marie Callender’s Restaurant burned after a suspicious fire broke out in the abandoned structure, early Saturday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a commercial structure fire in the 2000 block of North Grand Avenue around 12:41 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a single-story building that used to house a Marie Callender’s Restaurant with heavy smoke showing from the roof.

Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack and quickly extinguished the flames within 30 minutes.

Security guards in the area detained two suspects for police who witnesses reported seeing leave the building shortly after the fire broke out.

Several witnesses who refused to appear on camera also confirmed that they believed the detained individuals likely started the fire however no arrests were immediately made.

Investigators are on scene continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.
