Santa Ana: Two Blue Toyota Camrys Overturn, Trapping One Person In Suspected DUI Crash

03.27.2022 | 2:31 AM | SANTA ANA – Two blue Toyota Camrys overturned in a freeway crash that trapped one person who was later arrested on suspicion of DUI, early Sunday morning.

The crash reported was reported on the northbound SR-55 Freeway just north of Edinger Avenue around 2:31 AM.

When units arrived they found two vehicles overturned, including a blue 2007 Toyota Camry down a ditch and another blue 2009 Toyota Camry with a person trapped inside, and began efforts to render aid.

Officers were able to free the trapped victim from the 2009 Camry allowing medics to quickly transport him to an area hospital where he was later arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to radio traffic.

Two occupants from the 2007 Camry that overturned into a ditch sustained minor injuries and declined ambulance transport.

Witnesses from the scene said that that the 2009 Camry was driving in and out of lanes prior to rear-ending the 2007 Camry and causing both vehicles to overturn.

A large pole was sheered in the collision and came to rest down an embankment but was not posing an immediate road hazard.
