Santa Ana: Drive-By Shooting Involving Tow Truck Leaves Two Injured

01.16.2021 | 1:15 AM | SANTA ANA – Two people were injured in a drive-by shooting involving a flatbed tow truck that was later found abandoned, early Saturday morning.

The drive-by shooting occurred in the 900 block of West Bishop Street, near South Flower Street, around 1:15 AM.

Two people in their 20s, a man and a woman, were struck in their lower extremities but not seriously injured.

Both patients were transported by firefighter paramedics to area hospitals in stable condition.

Several blocks away at the intersection of South Parton Street and West Highland Avenue a flatbed tow truck believed to have been used in the shooting was found abandoned.

Police believe the shooter ditched the flatbed tow truck before fleeing on foot.

No suspect description was immediately available but police are reviewing nearby surveillance footage.

It is unclear if the tow truck was stolen.
