Westminster: Crossing Guard Identified as Victim in Deadly Crash

06.09.2022 | 11:00 AM | WESTMINSTER – A man who worked as a city crossing guard was identified as the victim in a deadly crash, police announced Thursday.

Robert Polino Avila, 77, of Westminster, was pronounced deceased by authorities responding to a two-car crash on Tuesday, Jun. 7, 2022.

Police say Avila’s car collided with a another vehicle in the 14500 block of Goldenwest Street, near Hazard Avenue, around 5:35 AM.

A passenger in Avila’s vehicle along with the driver of the second vehicle were transported to UCI Medical Center in unknown condition.

Avila was not working for the city at the time of the accident, police added.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.
